Maths support videos

Within school, we use White Rose Maths to help support with our maths curriculum. We follow the scheme because of the depth of understanding and the methods in which it helps to build children's understanding of maths rather than simply understanding a method to complete a task. Whilst these methods may seem 'alien' at home, it is really important that you support your child in encouraging them to use these methods as they are essential to allow your child to progress within the 'bigger picture' of their mathematical development.

To support this, White Rose have put together a number of video supports for each lesson/topic that is covered within each year group. These support from the 'teaching' of the method, to the 'application' of the task at hand and are a really good way of being able to support with homework.

Please use the following steps to access the videos:

1) Follow this link here.

2) Select the year group your child is in. This can be done under the 'year' title. You need to select the v3 scheme for that year group e.g. if the child is in Year 4, you would select Year 4 v3 scheme. Then click 'filter'.

3) You will then have the whole year coverage to select from. Look at the time of year you are accessing the page e.g. Autumn term, then identify the focus for the homework or task that you are focusing on. This will then bring up the relevant video/videos. The lessons/support are designed to be used by both children and adults so can be a great support whilst undertaken homework if any issues or barriers come up.
