We believe children should have the opportunity to be immersed in quality texts. These have been carefully mapped out and considered so that they engage pupils in their learning, these also complement the children's projects that they are learning in class.
All of our units of work allow pupils to work their way through the writing process.
1. The first stage immerses children in the text and teaches them the new skills that they need to know in order to progress in their writing. This will involve lots of fun activities to enable the children to “read as a writer”.
2. Once pupils have talked and learnt the language they need in order to "write as a reader" they then begin to be taught the skills their teacher wants to see in their writing. This process allows children to try out different writing techniques and also to edit and proof-read their writing ready for publishing.
3. After all their hard work, children then publish their work, considering their reader to ensure their writing will be engaging for them.
