Bikeability

Bikeability

Year 6 did Bikeability which taught us a lot about road safety, control and awareness. Our first session was on the ballcourt where they examined our bikes and taught us a safety check to do. We also talked about safe clothing to wear on roads. They taught us how to indicate and learn to use the gears.

In our second session, we went on the roads for the first time! Firstly we learnt how to do a u-turn and how to come out of junctions. We rode around the school and local areas. After a while we left the basics and we practised taking the lead of the line and we learnt about road signs. The triangle sign means danger/warning and we repeatedly practised reading the signs whilst cycling.

At the end of the session we got a certificate, booklet and badge if we did well and passed our sessions"
