  • Year 4 - The Normans

    Mon 12 Oct 2020

Mr Williams spent some time in Year 4 this week to see what the children have been learning. He thought the work they have completed about The Normans was absolutely fantastic!

Here is an account from one of our Year 4 students.

To create our castles we had to learn about 1066. We also got to watch some videos about William the Duke of Normandy and Harold Godwinson’s army battling each other about who wants to be king. Once we watched the videos, Miss Grantham got us to draw a picture of an amazing castle. It was so fun, we all loved it!

There are lots of different parts in a castle – there is a motte, moat, the keep, turrets, drawbridge, arrow loops, baily, portcullis and lots of others. The arrow loops are for shooting arrows, the portcullis is to stop the horses and people coming in. The moat is very dirty water around the outside of the castle. The baily is where their army has houses to sleep in.
