Video for today:

Guided Reading Thursday 7th January

Activity 1:

Your first task is to read the text below and highlight any unknown vocabulary that you don't know the meaning of. Next, you need to write a definition for each word, as well as a definition for the words that we would like you to find the meaning of. You could use an online dictionary or a paper dictionary to help you do this.

Activity two:

The next task is to answers the questions about the text. Remember you may need to re-read the text to help you!

There are 2 ways of doing this (read each one before you have a go):

- Use the word document below to either write your questions onto or use a piece of paper at home to do this.

- Use the online quiz to write your answers. This is new so please let Mr Hughes know if it doesn't work (he is still learning how to use it properly!) by email. Click on the link HERE. You will be asked to enter your name then it will ask you to start the quiz. You will need to read the question carefully, then type in your answers. Once you have finished the answers come to your teachers in school! smiley

Activity Three:

Look through the images below to see whether you got the perfect answer or not. You can also watch the video to see if you got the perfect answers as well. This is a really important thing to do so that you can check your progress and know whether you got something correct or not which will help you for the next guided reading lesson!

Activity four:

Your last task for today is to continue the story on from the last line. Watch the video for an explanation of what to do then begin continuing on your story.

Think about these key features:

- Descriptive adjectives

- Show not tell language

- Dialogue between the characters

- Conjunctions to link your ideas

You can either complete this task by using paper at home or by filling in your ideas by using the link HERE. Remember to enter your name before starting.
