School Meals

School Meals

Lunch break for all children runs from 12.15 – 1.15pm each day, although children eat in two sittings.  Years 3 & 4 eat their lunch at 12.15pm in the hall followed by Years 5 & 6 at 12.45pm.  Children may either bring in their own packed lunch or have a hot school meal.

Hot meals are provided by Chartwells and can be purchased by going online to their website http://www.mealselector.co.uk/ or by phone on 01243 836130 or 0845 6037998.  Orders have to be made just over a week before the hot meal is required.  You do not need to order for the whole week, single days may be ordered but there is a minimum £10 order. Payments can be made by credit, debit card or cheque through Chartwells.  Menus can be found on the Chartwells website or you can pick one up from the school office.

Alternatively, children may bring in their own packed lunch.  Children are encouraged to ensure their lunch is healthy and to avoid sweets and fizzy drinks.  As we have children with severe nut allergies we also ask that no nuts or products containing nuts are brought into school.  Children may bring a drink to have with their lunch and also a water bottle to have during the day in class.

Free School Meals

If you are in receipt of Income Support, Guarantee element of State Pension Credit or Child Tax Credit (Not Working Tax Credit), then your child may be eligible to receive free hot school meals, which will be automatically provided once you have registered.  Forms can be obtained from the school office.

Please note:  If you are entitled to Free School Meals but you do not wish your child to have a hot meal, we would still appreciate you making an application as this provides the school with additional funding which will enable us to purchase more resources to support and enrich our children's education.

Children who register for Free School Meals will also receive a Nyewood CE Junior school jumper free of charge.
